Michael Pomerantz is a writer and painter from Lakewood, OH. His realistic imagery, whether in text or picture, reflects decades of careful observation of the people, places and things in his life. There is a palpable warmth and light in his colorful representations of neighborhoods, market places and industrial areas. He also creates energetic renditions of sports figures, especially the Cleveland Browns, and musicians like Jerry Garcia, whom he has painted more than a hundred times.

Michael began drawing and painting while studying engineering in Ann Arbor, Michigan in 1981. Eventually he earned art degrees from the University of Michigan, Case Western Reserve University and Kent State University.

After working as an industrial designer and elementary school art teacher, Mr. Pomerantz turned all his energies to creating and selling original oil and acrylic paintings in 2001. He has exhibited in over 200 art festivals in more than a dozen states.

He began posting his poetry and shorts stories on Facebook in 2010 and recently began reading his work at Story Club in Cleveland Hts., OH where he received an award for his his original essay, “A Bridge Too Far.”

Born in 1961, Michael maintains a studio at his home in Lakewood, OH, where he lives with wife, Michele.
